Having Anxiety And Blurred Vision After Taking Flonase For Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. Should I Reduce The Dosage?

I have eustachian tube disfunction. I'm taking Flonase - one in each nostril morning and night - but I feel it's giving me anciety sometimes and blurred vision.

What's better sudafed or claritin as an alternative?

Also if I cut the flonase dose in half, will it still be effective and reduce the apparent side effects???

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

Flonase is a steroid spray, which- if used for a long time- will increase your chances of having bacterial/fungal infection of upper respiratory tract.

Azelastin Nasal spray, along with a combination of montelukast + levoceterizine/fexofenadine would be the ideal treatment. Also, a 10-days' course of nasal decongestant spray and steam inhalation through nose will do wonders.

Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me, order required tests, and- based on the reports- will prescribe suitable/modified treatment as advised.
