Have Uterine Fibroids On Uterine Wall. Bleeding, Clotting. NovaSure Ablation Procedure Required?
Hello,
I have been informed that I have 3 small uterine fibroids on the outside uterine wall. I have been experiencing heavy bleeding and clotting with all other discomforts that comes with it. I am told that small fibroids are not something to necessarily treat at this time. If I would like to get treated, the doctor suggested to get a hysterectomy! I would like to get the NovaSure ablation procedure instead to get my life back for now, since the fibroids are apparently nothing for me to worry about. May I still get this treatment despite of the fibroids existing. I have other health problems and do not see why I need to go through a hysterectomy. This would be at a greater detriment to me I feel.

Thank you so much for this query. I am so sorry to hear what you have been experiencing with fibroids.
Treatment of fibroids is mainly surgical through myomectomy. Hysterectomy may be recommended for elderly women close to or in their menopause. All fibroids tht cause problems like what you have described need to be treated irrespective of size. Novasure is for the inside of the uterus and not the outside and thus will be very difficult to treat this problem.
I understand your concerns about surgery. May i suggest that you meet and discuss the benefits and risk with your doctor so as to make a more informed decision? Can you also ask hi why he prefers hysterectomy to myomectomy?
