Have Toe Injury. Black Discharge, Pus Discharge, Swelling. Used Rubbing Alcohol. Help

I was biking and i hurt myself by scraping my foot on a pavement on Thursday. I lost 3 nails (one of the came off today) and scraped myself of my big toe. Nothing bad happened to my smaller toe. A nurse who was there on the scene helped me by wiping the blood (there was a lot of blood) and put some cream on the wounds and put some bandages on it. Later that day, my dad asked so people to help me, they put some alcohol on my wounds and wrapped it in a bandage. Then i went to the doctor would only wrapped my wounds in a bandage. I stayed with the bandage for a few days until i removed it and cleaned it myself. Today i went to the doctor to get it checked, he said it was ok. But i think my wound is infected, i need help. I have black stuff on and my around my wounds, and some pus coming out, and earlier today it was swollen. I used rubbing alcohol to remover the pus and black stuff so it became red but there is still some yellowish stuff on it. Please help.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

All the findings in the description suggests that your wound is INFECTED.

The "black stuff" on the wounds is ESCHAR , which is mixture of dead skin and soft tissues. It should be removed adequately because it harbours heavy load of bacteria.

I suggest you to consult a general surgeon for further management.

Hope this information is helpful . Good day

You probably need to seek a second opinion as the wounds appear infected,a thorough cleaning and debridement of the wound ,oral antibiotics and analgesics as well as daily dressings will help in early recovery.
