Have Swelling In Foot. Had Bunion Surgery Twice Earlier And Now Treated With Coumadin. What To Do?

I recently had bunion surgery twice as the first time was not a success. As a result of the 2nd surgery, I developed blood clots and am being treated with Coumadin. I now have excessive swelling in the affected foot. I have seen my doctor and she recommends another ultrasound, but is there anything else I can do? Also, will a beer a day worsen the problem?

Hi and welcome to HCM. Thank you for your query.
First, beer wouldnt hurt you. If there is swelling on both legs then there could be heart or kidney disease. If this is only one foot then there can be localized blood flow abnromality and in this case you need to do ultrasound or Ct angiography. Till this, keep your leg elevated and avoid long standing.also check your INR soon.

Wish you good health.Regards.
