hello and welcome to HCM,

Although cough will usually not get immediately relieved, you may however control the severity and the frequency by the following means:
1. You may take a codeine based cough syrup in consultation with your doctor to get good control at least temporary and this should be done if you are sure that the cough is dry
2. You may need also to take anti reflux medications and syrup to get a better control
3. have lots of warm water and do not speak much (do not strain your voice)

get well soon
