Have Sero -ve Arthritis. Prescribed Folitrax, Folvite, Sazo 500. Can The Condition Cured From These Medications?
Hi,51 years old female have Sero -ve Arthritis,Doc prescribed Folitrax 10 once in a week after meal @ night & simultaneously given another vitamin Folvite 5 for twice a week after meal....& another medicine Sazo 500...
Is there any side effect for Folitrax 10 ???? Please tell me the function of all these three medicine..How long have to continue..Can this disease be cured with these medicine ? Please suggest

Sero negative arthritis comprises of many conditions collectively called as SPONDYLO ARTHROPATHIES.
All the medicines prescribed to you fall under DMARD'S (disease modifying anti rheumatic drugs) which are said to modify the disease process thereby causing symptom relief.
Generally, these drugs are to be taken for prolonged periods of time and there is no clear cut consensus on the exact duration of treatment for these disorders.
The common side effects of the drugs you are taking are as follows -
* FOLITRAX (METHOTREXATE) - headache, dizziness, tiredness, blurred vision. It mainly causes liver damage in the long run. So its essential to have LFT (liver function tests) done once in 2-3 months and the dosage of mext has to be adjusted accordingly.
* Sazo (SULPHASALAZINE) - loss of appetite, fever, nausea, rash

What cannot be cured, has to be endured...
They are excellent and state of the art drugs / immuno suppressants / disease modifying / retard the progression
Folic acid supplement is to counteract possible deficiency from the drug (the very mechanism of action...)
