Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello, swelling in calf can be due to a problem called popliteal cyst or Baker's cyst which generally occurs in long standing arthritis. Knee swelling can be aspirated but definite management will be with DMARD which needs to be adjusted every 6 weeks till you have maximum benifit. Once the dose is adjusted you can have almost normal life though there are some issues with arthritis as it affects other organ system of the body also like lungs. Age related + chronic arthritis issues can manifest later which can be taken care off lately. Thank you
