Have Pain Under Ribs, Cough, Tingling In Arm. Had Viral Infection

I have had a viral infection with a bad cough for a week now and 3 days ago I developed a pain under my ribs on the left side. My cough is still present but better however, the pain has worsened and today I noticed a dull ache/tingling in my left arm. Just don't know it this is worthy of seeing a doctor or if I should continue to wait it out. Thanks. Mary

Hello, thanks for the query.

No doubt there is pain under the rib and pain refers to left side. Cough is there but it started 7 days prior to this.
In this case it might due to collapse of lower part of lung( consolidation {pneumothorax}) and as as pain in in the left arm that is a referral pain from main cause ( root of disease).
Please don't wait and at once consult a physician and X-ray to to be done by consultant , it will reveal the exact position of disease.
Cough usually associated with this disease and further cough may be due some allergy if there is whistling sound ( rales or wheezing).
Take treatment according to the situation but don't late. Good luck for the best recovery.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Virus may be followed by bacteria... because of the recent injury, the respiratory tract becomes vulnerable.
These symptoms may mean Pleurisy / or Pneumonia / at times simple muscle spasm from cough - you need examination and X-ray chest
You haven't said anything of age, personal habits or co-morbidity - you may need a routine ECG too.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
