Have Pain In Back Of Head, Swelling, Tightness In Neck Muscle. Took Antibiotics. Normal MRI, X Ray. Underlying Cause

I went to my primary dr last week with a slight pain in the back of my head kinda behind my right ear. Did xrays and MRI, nothing. He thought it was my neck, gave me an adjustment, sore for few days but still have pain around my ear/upper jaw area. At times it feels a little swollen. He gave me a antibiotic, taken for a week now but still not going away completely. Tightness in neck muscle from the right ear down. It all comes and goes. DId develop a little cold/sore throat the day after the adjustment but it went away after a few days. I am a very healthy 51 year old but this is driving me crazy.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Neck muscular spasms can cause pain which can spread to back of the head and upper jaw. Persistent neck pain could be wrong posture while sleeping and also due to very hard pillows under your head. I suggest you take Tab Flexon MR thrice daily for three days after food. Local application of anlgesic gel over the painful area thrice daily for three days. Hot fomentation over the painful area also will help to relieve the soreness.
Some stretching exercises for the neck will relieve the spasms. Correction of posture and use of comfortable pillows while sleeping is recommended.

Thanks.
