Have Mucus Discharge From Anus And Is Itchy. No Infection. Recommendations?
For the past three weeks I have had mucous coming out of my anus most times I go for bowel movement. Sometimes it is just mucous that comes out and sometimes accompanied by stool. my anus is also itchy. Doctor asked for 3 stool samples on 3 different days and all results for infection were clear. what could it be and would you recommend more investigation?

Hi ! Do you eat frequently from outside ? If so, it could be an ameobic infection which may not show itself even on repeated stool test. If I would have been your doctor, I would go for a therapeutic trial of anti amebic course with your consent. You can discuss it with your doctor.
In case this is prolonged, then I would suggest you to get yourself reviewed by a gastro enterologist, who may consider an endoscopic evaluation of your gastro intestinal tract for a diagnosis, and further management. Till that you are advised to add more of roughage and enough liquids in your diet and go for regular exercise. Wishing you an early recovery.
