OBGYN 's  Response
Hello Cherish
Thanks for your query.
There could be various possibilities -
1. Stress, anxiety , weight gain, change in diet or sleep patterns .
2. Hypothyroidism, raised prolactin levels, other endocrine distubances.
3. Conditions like polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometrial hyperplasia etc.
4. Hypoplasia of the uterus or premature ovarian ageing.
To differentiate between these possibilities, you need to see a gynecologist, and go for
- pelvic ultrasound scan
- hormonal levels - FSH, LH, prolactin, TSH, DHEAS, free testosterone, Oral glucose tolerance test.
Take care.

OBGYN Dr. Shanti Vennam's  Response
Hi,
In the current scenario, I would ask for a complete hormonal profile and a trans-vaginal sonogram. If pregnancy has been excluded, then the most likely cause is a hormonal disturbance. This could be due to infections, sudden weight disturbances, stress of any form, polycystic ovaries or thyroid disorder and use of certain medications. You should see a gynecologist for further appraisal of the situation. Please maintain a healthy body weight and perform regular exercise. Hope this helps.
