Have Migraine. Low Menstrual Flow. Suggest Medicine

Hello, myself sangeeta , 35 yrs, and suffer from migraine pain continuously for 5 days in 5-6 months interval, i use to take migraine drugs during those 5 days and stops after it ceases. I have been suffering from this pain since childhood. earlier doctors thought it to be sinusitis and in my 20s it was diagnosed as migraine pain. lately i have seen that it occurs before my monthly periods starts and that too with very less volume of blood . Seems its hormonal . No doctors have any good reason for my problem. please suggest some answers to my problem and some drugs too.

Hi Sangeeta,

Thank you for posting your query.

Your migraines can be treated with good preventive medications. Migraine episodes are known to get exacerbated during periods, a condition known as menstrual or catamenial migraine.

You can take medications such as beta blockers or flunarizine for about 10 days per month, during and before periods.

If you get headache, you can take rizatriptan tablets to relieve the pain.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
