Have Itching And Rash From Neck To Feet. Had Cortisone Shot And A Hida Scan. What To Do?

Good morning. I am a 40 year old female. I had a hida scan performed on Friday, May 3rd. I am experiencing itching from my neck to the top of my feet. The itching/rash started Sunday night. I received a cortisone shot on Monday afternoon and have been put on a Prednisone taper. As of this moment, the rash is no longer on my arms and legs. I can feel a rash on my torso and back. I am just as itchy today as I was before I ever received the cortisone shot. Could this be a reaction to the isotope used in the scan? I have only experienced this itching once before...and I believe it was after a nuclear med procedure as well.

Hi there ~

I understand your concerns and also believe that you are having these reactions due to the isotope used during the scan. It may be well to wait it out for some time while still continuing to take the medication prednisone so as to get better. I hope you are also on symptomatic treatment for the itching, i.e. over the counter benadryl or avil which will help deal with the symptoms. I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!
