Have Irregular Periods. Took Yaz And Progyluton Medicine. What To Do For This?

I am 44 years old and for the last 3 years my periods have been slightly irregular..instead of a 28 day cycle it could range from a 2 week to a 2 month cycle....I haven't had any of the typical symptoms of Menapause like hot flushes or not sleeping etc..my only complaint is that if I'm planning a vacation etc i have no clue if and when my period would come..for the last year it has ruined every vacation , Christmas , anniversary etc..so I went to see my doctor who put me on YAZ...I went back to the Doctors before I had even started to take Yaz to get some test results and saw a different doctor who was not happy I was given Yaz ( my age ) and gave me Progyluton.i know that both carry risks, but now I am scared and confused about what I should be taking.. Can you help advise me , Thankyou

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Progyluton may be the better option at your age. It is commonly used for post menopausal women to reduce the symptoms experienced.
Though birth control and hormonal medication like all medications can be associated with the risk of side effects , this is just that- a potential risk not a definite problem.

You may not experience any problems at all, most women do not. Risk is increased if there is history for example of a clotting disorder.

I hope this helps
