Have Hives. Took Antihistamines. LDH 355. Can A Tick Bite Cause Elevated LDH?

I have had hives almost everyday since October. I have seen a dermatologist and an allergist. I have been on a regime of antihistamines for a few months and have had a 3 week period of no hives, but they came back even though still taking medications. One of the blood test came back elevated. It was the LDH at 355. I do have heart disease but have not had any problems in years. I have 6 stents. My question is this, Can a tick bite cause the LDH to be elevated?

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

- This level is a bit high - not much / repeat it.
- A few antihistamines, especially with long term use, are known to cause liver injury
- LDH is found in may tissues – brain, heart, kidney, muscle, liver, lung, blood cells and so on.. It can be raised due to several reasons – Muscle disease, tissue injury, cardiovascular or cerebrovascular accident,
- ‘Post hoc ergo propter hoc’ – meaning "after this, therefore because of this" / there could be other causes, for the raise.
- Insect bites can cause this

The wise option will be to give the benefit of doubt / stop the drug / see your Allergy specialist – change the drug..

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
