Have High Uric Acid Along With Elevated Cholesterol Levels. Diet Plan?

Hi doctors.. I have high uric acid along with elevated cholesterol levels. I need to know what are the best foods (available in India) for lowering uric acid. Maybe some recipes or reference websites can help as I would like to incorporate these foods in my diet . Yes, I m a bit of obese but have started walking. Any precious advice is highly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Shanbagh,
Thanks for writing your query.

Following diet and lifestyle changes will be helpful :-
1. Avoid alcohol.
2. Reduce purine rich food like organ meat(liver, kidney, etc), legumes(beans and peas), gravies, mushrooms, spinach, asparagus, cauliflower, etc.
3. Avoid excessive eating at every meals.
4. Avoid salad dressings, ice creams and fried foods.
5. Donot loose weight quickly as it may result in uric stones.

You can follow these simple precautions in your diet.
Avoiding fatty foods and regular exercise will also help in controlling your cholesterol levels.
Also get yourself examined by a Physician for any medication if needed.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
