Have Full Bladder But Unable To Empty. Have Small Trickles And Urge To Go Again, Abdomen Seems Distended

About 2 years ago, I noticed I would have a full bladder, but be unable to empty it. It could be almost painful. I would start by a small trickle of urine, and after several attempts (return trips to the toilet), I can finally maintain a steady stream. The more that comes out, the stronger the stream. My abdomen always seems a bit distended as well, but this might just be due to weight gain. I have gained 30 lbs in the last 10 years.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Since you have not mentioned the age & sex , so very difficult to evaluate any diagnosis.
If you are male and age is around 50 years or above then consult a surgeon and get in ultrasound of prostate as it might be enlarged.
2nd reason may be tension ( stress) .
3rd reason may imbalance of symphathetic & parasymphathetic disorder so consult according to situation.
Good luck, Dr. HET

Hi,

As you are not mentioning your gender, and your age, I can only give a presumptive answer:

- If you are a male of over the 50s, most probably you are facing problems with enlarged prostate. You need to go for ultrasound and digital exam to determine these problems.

- If you a female (or even a male), another probability is urinary tract infection. For this, you would need to do urine analysis and urine culture to determine the right treatment.

- Next, if you are a male and not been circumcised, you should talk to your urologist to decide whether circumcision is the right treatment for you.

Meanwhile, I would recommend to:

- stop using stimulants of bladder (such as coffee, alcohol, energy drinks, cola, chillies, fried foods, etc.)

- do some Kegel exercises - train yourself at the toilet. When it comes the urge to go to the toilet, you can sit on your legs trying to urinate, then; after a while stop and try to keep it as long as you can and then empty the bladder for full.

You can discuss the details with your urologist.

- have some teas that can help naturally resolve urinary tract problems (such as uva ursi, rosa canina, I have seen my patients do have satisfactory results with these type of tea-treatment).

Hope it helped!

Hi,
Welcome to Healthacre magic,

As per the description of your clinical symptoms, you are possibly having BOO (bladder outlet obstruction) due to either stricture of urethra or BPH(prostate problem).

I suggest you to consult a urologist to look in to this issue.

regards,
Dr.SIAVYOGI
