Have Diabetics And On Insulin. Had Gained A Lot Of Weight. What To Do To Lose Weight?

I have been diabetic over 30 years. the last ten years I was put on insulin. I have gained so much weight and it is hard getting it off. I am 5ft 1 weigh 203 lbs. 59 years old and I want to live a very long life. I recently started pureeing my foods it helped to lose a few lbs but it is hard to keep that up, is the insulin causing me to maintain the weight, if so what else can I do to lose the weight.

Hi there ~

I understand your concern and it is difficult to be a diabetic for 30 years. While it might be a fine balance it might be very beneficial for you to lose weight. It is also suggested that you do so under the expert advise of a nutritionist. There are two ways to lose weight - one is to eat right and the other is to exercise. It is also necessary to modulate and titrate your insulin according to those needs, and an endocrinologist or your diabetologist should be able to do so. I hope this helps.

Take care and have a lovely day!
