Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
I understand that you must be going through a tough time trying to deal with your depression. Now, most countries have specific protocols which determine the necessity of companion animals. Usually, companion animals are provided only when the person is having a significant disability due to the illness, and is unable to manage his / her activities of daily living without external help.
So, this decision is entirely upto your treating doctor. I would suggest that you try psychological / behavioural therapies for your motivation problems, in addition to your current anti-depressant medication.
Wish you all the best.
