Have Burning On Outside Of Right Ear Moving To Cheek Bone. Is It Shingles?

I am a 48 year old female and have been having a problem with a strong burning feeling on the outside of my right ear. Yesterday, after an extremely stressful incident, it started to move onto my right cheek bone as well. It feels like it is on fire, even putting my head on a pillow causing the burning sensation to worsen. Could this be shingles? There are no lesions, and also I should mention that I have just 'officially' entered the wonderful land of menopause. Thank you for your time.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The burning sensation that you are having is likely to be due to paresthesias. This can happen due to vitamin B 12 deficiency or fluid and electrolyte imbalances. Thyroid hormone disturbances also need to be ruled out after blood tests.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
