Have Burning In Vagina During Urination. It Could Be Because Of Voltaren. What To Do?

I rubbed Voltaren on my friends back for muscle pain relief, and forgot to wash my hands. I had my period and unfortunately when I went to the toilet, I put a tampon in. Didn't realise I still had Voltaren Emulgel on. After it started to burn, but I thought nothing of it. The next morning I found I could not urinate, due to the burning. Now it's sore and lumpy but not itchy. Just stings and burns when I urinate. Im too embarrassed to see a doctor. What do I do?

Hello,
thanks for using health care magic.

To begin, i will like to let you know that there is no shame nor stigma in seeing a doctor for whatsoever the problem could be. Doctors are trained to receive all types of complains and to maintain professional secrets. Besides what you are describing is just a common symptom among young girls and women.

It is likely due to a yeast infection or to a trichomoniasis infection. You should see a doctor for detail evaluation and for a vaginal swab for microscopy, pH and KOH tests and urine test.
Best regards
Dr Achuo
