Have Bump On Tonsil And Burning Sensation In Sinus Area. What Medication Should Be Given?

I have a white bump (size of bb) on right tonsil . Not tonsil stone , as I have had those before and know what they look like. I have a burning in the sinus area next to the right tonsil and burning on back of tongue on right side just out of view when I look in throat . The bump does not hurt at all. I can even touch it with no pain at all. There is no swelling and only very slight redness. The pain comes and goes. I have gone without any pain for sometimes 24hrs. And it can be either the sinus area or the tongue or both at the same time. Sometimes antacids help but not always.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
hello and welcome to Health care magic,

I am Dr Sriram Nathan and I shall try to help you out with your problem

The bump around tonsils since is of a short duration can be due to many causes most of which are begnign and harmless so you do not have anything to worry about.

You may start a course of antibiotic like amox-clav along with an anti reflux medication like pantoprazole. Your doctor will know about these.

Take only non spicy, non oily and warm food and fluids

Take a course of multivitamin like zincovit in consultation with your doctor

If you do not get better in a week or so then you must consult an ENT doctor who may advice further course of action which may include biopsy

take care and do not worry

regards

Dr Sriram Nathan
