Have Bowel Movement Which Is Soft And Mixed With Mucus, Stomach Rumbling. Undergone Stool And Blood Test. Cancer?

Hi, I'm Pearla. my stomach rumbles a lot esp.at night. In the morning, when i wake up, I would have a bowel movement which is soft, sometimes mixed with mucus. sometimes i need to go to toilet twice/thrice in the morning I consulted a physician who said that I have irritable bowel syndrome. He ran stool test and blood test which came negative and prescribed some medicines. The medicines help me only for few months. I'm so worried Doctor. Is it cancer or something

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this. Irritable bowel syndrome is only diagnosed
after ruling out all other possible causes of similar symptoms. I am pretty confident that this is what your doctor did and found no reasons to suspect cancer. These symptoms are not typical of cancer either. Cancer often presents with alternating constipation and diarrhea. Blood finding in stool is also common. But, there are also a good number that have no symptoms.

If you are above 40years and didn't do a colonoscopy as part of your investigations, please talk with your doctor as this will for sure put your mindset at ease especially talking about cancer.
