Have Been Diabetic, Restless Leg Syndrome. No Help With Neurontin. Suffer From Insomnia. Cure For Symptoms?

Hi, I have been a diabetic for 12 years now and up to about two years ago I started having restless leg syndrome my dr. has tried various medications and nothing seems to help. I was on Neurontin for at least half a year and had to get off. I started falling my legs would just give out. I have been taking one of my Mom's Norco at night and it rs the only thing that helps plus, it helps me sleep. I also suffer from insomnia and have been on ambien for approx..9 years I quit taking ambien when one day I went into my garage and noticed that my van's driver side mirror was just having there I had no recollection at all of this. I would also find opened food containers and couldn't remember eating. while on ambien I had no restless leg syndrome but, I do not want to go down that road again. I mentioned this to my primary care provider and asked if he could prescribe Norco just for the night but, he doesn't believe in using any kind of narcotic. I should have mentioned earlier that I have had gastric by pass 10 yrs ago and I no longer can take medication like Benadryl, Tylenol PM etc... for they actually cause my restless leg syndrome to go nuts. Is there anything I can do for this condition keeping in mind I have had gastric by-pass, diabetic for 12 yrs now and I am back on insulin and Glucophage.

Hello,

Opioids(Narcotics) will help in mild to sever forms of restless legs syndrome and it is one of the drugs of choice to treat restless leg syndrome.

So you can very well be prescribed Opioids if it helps you in symptom relief.

Discuss with your doctor.
