Have A Red Bump On My Labia Minora. It Has A Sharp Pain. Took Sitz Bath. Look Like A Pea, Puss Comes Out When Broken. Suggestions?

Hi, yesterday after i went to the bathroom and wiped, i noticed pain. I looked down there and saw a red bump on my labia minora. I did research and im pretty sure its a bartholin cyst or abscess. I did a couple of sitz baths to try and treat it. Today i was sitting down and I felt a sharp pain, so i went to take another sitz bath and noticed the bump grew to the size of a pea and it looked like a pimple, with a white head or something. I popped it and puss and a little blood came out. I don't know if i did the right thing, but the pain is gone. I also didnt want an infection so i put neosporin (i dont know if that was right either..). Please help me. I don't know what to do. Do you have any advice?

Hello,

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to HealthcareMagic.

Now after reading your query thoroughly the first possibility I can make out is of simply “Folliculitis”.

Folliculitis is an inflammation or infection of the hair root with oil gland at the genital area. As we know that our genital area have lot of coarse hair and this area is always been closed, so there is always a chance of infection of hair root at this area due to in-growth of the hair.

There are certain suggestions which are applicable in your condition:

- The most important thing you should do is to not touch, pinch, pop or squeeze the area by any means.

-Stay away from hot and humid climate.

-Take two times bath and maintain good hygiene.

-Wear cotton clothes and cotton undergarments and especially change the undergarments two times a day.

Hope to have provided the helpful informations regarding your problem.
With good health wishes"

- You can do cold or warm water compresses over the affected area.

- You can take a course of oral antibiotics and pain killer under medical advice.
