Have Paget's Disease. Suggested Breast Removal. What Options Do I Have?

1) I was diagnosed with pagets disease and I was advice by my doctor to remove my whole right breast to prevent cells from my milk ducts 60% burst out and form breast cancer . I am only 40 and I hope I dont have to cut a part of my body (my womanhood), what are the options do i have that I can discuss with my doctor? 2) is paget s disease contagious? Thank you Liza

Hi,
Paget's disease is not contagious. Paget's disease is associated with underlying malignancy, it is itself malignancy in situ. If this disease is not multicentric then breast conservation surgery can be done, and chemotherapy can be given afterward . in case of multicentricity mastectomy is the choice. consult your doctor.
