Have PCOS. Chest Pain, Heart Pounding, Trembling, Weakness. Taken Metformin ER. Help?

Today I had breakfast a little late l, but I ate and took my Metformin ER and spironolactone with my meal as I usually do. A couple of hours later I began to feel very weak and my body, mainly above my pelvis , started to tremble. It escalated to the point where I needed to lie down. It didn t subside, It felt like my heart was pounding, but I didn t have any chest pain . I decided to take a nap but I felt the same when I woke up. I got my husband to give me some food and I felt better after eating. What could be the problem? I take the metformin ER 500mg and spironolactone 100mg for PCOS- poly cystic ovarian syndrome.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Metformine causes hypoglycemia ( reduces sugar level in body ).
Spironolactone cause diuretics effects i.e. indirectly develops low blood pressure .
Hypo glycemia & lower blood pressure , both produces trembling and dizziness.
The treatment for PCOD ( Poly Cystic Ovarian Disorder or Syndrome) is in right direction.
But consult your doctor about this episode , so that , he will adjust the dosage according to his opinion.
When such type of situation develops drink plenty of sugar added fluid or juice.
Good luck.
