Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Reason I am questioning this and not going to the doc is because i dont want to waste her time and thought it could just be heart burn....and I am only 29 so thought it unlikely... I had post natal depression 5 years ago and still get stressed every now and again even now with an anxious feeling or apprehansion. I have been experiencing chest pains which i think is heart burn. The pain is in the middle but to the left of my chest in between my breasts and also at the top of my back. Aong with this i have occasionally felt like my arms are heavy and i feel exhausted. I need to sleep during the day and then have no problem sleeping at night also. Today after having chest pains yesterday I have woken feeling like i have flu like symptoms ie ache all over (i dont have a cold).. I have been getting neck pains recently too... Do you think that I am stressed or have depression again, have heart burn or could I be suffering heart problems ?
It does not sound like a heart problem. You could have a virus that is causing the symptoms. If you have put on weight recently it could be putting pressure on your diaphragm and causing heart burn. Either way you should still go to see the doctor, Your health is far to important to worry about wasting time. anxiety can also cause many symptoms. I would recommend getting a appointment with your GP if he has any concerns he will send you to the hospital for a quick check on your heart. You can also phone NHS direct the number and site is on the web http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/ where you can speak to a nurse. If you have any pins and needles down your arm or crushing on your chest call, an ambulance immediately.
