Has Terrible Skin Condition Which Looks Like Ring Worm All Over Body. What Can It Be?

Hello,
I have a student that has told me she was stationed in afganistan she has a terrible skin condition and will not tell anyone what it is it looks like ring worm and she is constantly picking at it. It looks like small pea or penny sized rings on her extremities and body. can you tell me what it maybe?
