Has Seizures. Done X Rays, CT Scans, EEG And MRI. What Is The Reason?
My mother has been on hd since april and now she has started ha
ving seizures and she had two nonresponsive episodes in june and july this happend first then the seizures she had the first one on this past Friday and the next one on sunday xrays, ct, eeg,mri, and pet tests have been done her doc. say things are clear. how can that be?

It is not unusual to have normal brain scans and EEG in patients with seizures.
This is because seizures occur due to intermittent abnormal discharges in the electrical activity of the brain. These abnormal discharges are not continuous, but occur only for a short time. During this time, the EEG may be abnormal. However, when we do inter ictal (duration between seizures, when the patient is not having active seizures) EEG, then, the EEG may be normal.
Other possibility is that the seizures could be due to metabolic derangements such as low sodium, calcium, etc, which can be detected with blood tests.
