Hard Lump In Calf Muscle, No Pain. Had Accident And Got Fractured Years Back. Any Ideas?

I recently noticed a hard lump 3/4 inches in diameter located about mid calf muscle on my left leg. It doesn't hurt when I press on it and I can feel behind the thing when I press against it with my fingers. Still no pain but does concern me. In 1997 I severely fractured my left tibua, fibula and ankle in a car accident. I am able the walk and excersise using this leg with no problem today.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi !
From your history it appears to be a haematoma ( blood clot ) which might have been calcified. It could be as a result of your earlier trauma. Watch out if it grows in size or becomes painful. Then you might require further evaluation to rule out malignancy.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. K. Naga Ravi Prasad's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
A hard and non tender swelling could be a bony growth arising from the underlying bones.
Its always better to get evaluation for such swellings by undergoing Xrays and scans to rule out that they are not bone tumours.
Consult an orthosurgeon and follow his advice accordingly.
Hope this helps
