Hard Lump At The Site Of Operation For Fractured Mandible. Cause Of Concern?

Hi, I had a plate fitted due to a fractured madible three weeks ago. I have a hard lump at the site of the operation which can be felt from the outside of my face. Should this be cause for concern? I had noticed it since the surgery but it appears to be much more prominent now. I don t know whether this will be my normal shape now or if the plate/bone is protruding and don t want to waste doctors time at the hospital if it isn t cause for concern. Many thanks.

Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
It appears to be the plate which is fixed to keep the mandible in place. it the begening it is not visible, due to the swelling of the surrounding tissues, now the swelling is coming down so you could see the plate. as the swelling is coming down, the tissues are healthy. So nothing is to be worried about the swelling.
Still it is always better to consult your surgeon to prevent aany unknown side effects.
Take more of green leafy vegetables, pulses, sprouts, and
protein rich foods to hasten the recovery.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
