Had Unprotected Sexual Intercourse. Missed Periods And Feeling Sick. Pregnancy Test Came Negative
I had sexual intercourse on September 27th. On October 11th I had a very heavy period which lasted about 5 days. When I indicate heavy, I mean a super plus tampon and a thick pad in which I soaked through. A week later I began feeling sick after I ate and noticed strong purfume smells. I do have two children so I am not unfamiliar with pregnancy symptoms. I missed my period this month which was due Friday or Saturday. I have taken 5 pregnancy tests over the course of the week all which have been negative and consulted over the phone with my OBGYN. She indicted that she did not think I was pregnant and I said are you 100% positive in which she replied 99%. I am never late and very regular. What gives?
Hi, If you never missed a period and have some symptoms, you should definitely exclude pregnancy. As your urine tests have been negative, a blood test would be ideal. Please get serum beta-hCG titres; this is a very specific and sensitive test and can definitely rule out or confirm any pregnancy. A trans-vaginal sonogram would be helpful in aiding the diagnosis. A physical exam with your gynecologist is the next step. If pregnancy can be excluded, you would need to be treated for hormonal imbalances. Hope this helps.
