Had Surgery To Remove Cyst From Bladder. Report Shows Leukocyte Esterase, Wbc, Squamous Epithelial Cells, Protein In Urine. Serious?

I am a 55 y/o male. I had surgery on 4 SEP 2013 to remove cyst from my bladder. I had a urine test today that yielded the following results:LEUKOCYTE ESTERASE - Positive; WBC's >25; RBC's 0-3; MUCOUS, UR SED, QL, AUTOMATED COUNT - present; SQUAMOUS EPITHELIAL CELLS, URINE SED, AUTOMATED COUNT, QUAL - few; Protein 30 (+1): should I be concerned????

Yes, there is a reason to be concerned because these findings are suggestive o a urinary tract infection(UTI). The good news is that this is easily treatable with antibiotics. Your doctor should also try to probe further if there are any possible explanations as to why you are having UTI and address them. This would help prevent future infections.Beside antibiotics, you should drink abundant quantities of water daily. Also, cranberry juice can be of additional help.

In all. concerning for a UTI. Consult your doctor and get treated probably with antibiotics.
