Had Surgery To Remove A Pilonidal Cyst. Under The Area There Is Drainage Of Yellow Pus, Smelly. Treatment?
Hello, 8 days ago i had surgery to remove a pilonidal cyst . I still have the stitches and will be removing them this tuesday. There has been some drainage from the area which i thought was from the incision line however it is not. About 1-2 inches below the original incision (which was directly on my tailbone), it is extremely sore and after rubbing it with a washcloth i can see this is where the leaking is coming from. I cannot see the opening well but the fluid is a bloody/pus yellow type stuff which smells . Thanks !
hi there, what you have described sounds like a fistula and that has got infected. Your operating surgeon will have to take a look at it and if required then the fistulus tract will also need to be excised and you will need a course of antibiotics and regular dressing of that region as it has a tendency to be infected being so close to the anal opening. Do get yourself checked and do the needful, take care.
