Had Stitches For An Injury To Ankle. X-ray Normal. Pain Persisting. Is It Normal?

I hurt my ankle just over a week ago. I had to have 9 stitches put in. the cut was deep, but the xrays looked fine. My foot gets cold about once a day, and i can only warm it with a heating pad. i can't wear anything over the top of my foot because of where the injury is. Also my ankle only hurt for the first couple of days, then started hurting again today. Is this normal?
