Had Spinal Tap And Fifty Needle Pricks. Could I Be Having Back Problems From That?

I had a spinal tap abou 6 years ago. They stuck me close to 50 times cause couldn t get needle into my spine.. Could I be having back prIblems from that

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

A spinal tap at times may cause back pain due to the development of DISCITIS (infection in the intervertebral disc) through which the spinal needle passes into the spinal canal.

But this is more unlikely in your case as it has been more than 6 years since the time of your spinal tap. Discitis usually develops within 3 weeks of a spinal tap.

So there could be other causes for your back pain which needs evaluation by an orthopedic surgeon.
