Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
A cast is always better than an elastic bandage in providing immobilization and relief. You need to follow your doctor's advise closely to have an early relief. The swelling and pain will decrease gradually.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
