Had Periods, Followed With A Big Blood Clot. Had Heavy Flow. Is Reduced A Bit Now. Problem?

Hi I'm 19 year old female, my periods are fairly regular lasting 5-6 days always. Started my period Sunday 28th April 2013, Tuesday April 30th I woke up in seeee pain, went to the toilet & a massive blood clot that could fit into the palm of my hand came out. For the whole day I couldn't go out & do anything as I was soaking through super tampons every 20minutes & passing numerous large clots, during the whole day I passed more than 20 large clots, & was soaking through super tampons every 20 mins or so for at least 6-7 hours. The next day in was passing small clots & the bleeding wasn't as heavy. It is now may 7th & my period is still going strongly, soaking a super tampon every 4-5 hours, bright red blood, no sign of stopping? Should I be worried?
Than thanks.

Hello,

This is the first time that you're passing clots in your periods and don't panic.
Take antifibrinolytic and vitamin K to control the bleeding.
If this is repeated in the next cycle than a Gynecological consultation and evaluation is needed.
Ultrasound of the abdomen will help in finding the cause of clots and excessive bleeding.
