Had Pain When Breathing, Sore Throat, Headaches, Fatigue, Eyelid Swelling. Mono?

Hi, My daughter has had pain when breathing on one side and then the other for the past week or so. Dr. thought it might be a viral infection involving the pleura (lung lining). Early swmptoms also included a very slight sore throat and some headaches off and on. The most pronounced symptoms however are constant fatigue and eyelid swelling. Her eyes are very swollen in the AM and don't get much better during the day. Any ideas...could it be mono (glands are not swollen). Dr. prescribed non steriod anti inflammatory which helped pain somewhat. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

the symptoms you describe don't relate with mononucleosis.

It seems a viral infection, probably adenovirus, it may take time to resolve.

You may continue with non steroid antiinflammatory meds as long as the symptoms are present. Also you can use local antiseptic solution for the throat.
