Had Large Fibroids In Uterus. Prescribed Provera. Having Heavy And Painful Periods. Suggest
My doctor started me on Provera 10mg on the 4th of June. My cycles are regularly every 28days, however, I have not had a cycle as of yet. My LMP was 5/24. I was put on Provera to try to shrink the 2 large fibroids in my uterus before surgery. My periods are normally extremely heavy and painful. I am wondering where my cycle is.

If you are continuously taking provera, that can lead to absence of periods.
Progesterone is the hormone which maintains the endometrial layer in secretory phase.
During the time of menstruation these hormones will decrease and endometrium will shed along with blood.
Now as you continuously taking the progesterone in the form of provera that can lead to amenorrhea.
So you don't worry about periods and complete your course of provera.

Provera is a medroxyprogesterone acetate, which is a hormone, as you are taking tablet continuously it can cause delayed periods or ammenorrhea.
Normally in our body due to cyclical changes of hormones we do get cyclical bleeding, since you are taking it continuously for fibroid treatment need not have to worry for this. prriod will start once you stop this medication as a withdrawal bleeding.
