Had Hysteroscopy And Laparoscopy For Endometriosis. Left Ovary Fused To The Bowel. Will There Be Any Problem In The Future?

4 weeks ago I had a hysteroscopy and laporoscopy under general anaesthetic . I had some endometriosis on the left side and this was removed. However, they also discovered that my left ovary has fused to my bowel. I will be seeing the consultant again in the new year, but just wondered what problems/treatment is likely to occur. My GP said Don t worry, we ll sort it out when it starts causing problems .

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.

Endometriosis is a disease that can be widespread and yet may not be fully evaluated at a given time. Since you have undergone hysteroscopy and laparascopy for removal of endometriosis on left side the Surgeon has found out that left ovary is fused with bowel which is a known complication in itself.
Since the actual report and photos are not available it is difficult to to comment upon the present status or predict the future.
This is the problem with endometriosis.
The ovary could not be separated or removed as this would have been really stuck badly that removal without complications must have been not possible.
you will have to undergo the further management as per your Gynecologist's advise.
Watch for the symptoms related to bladder, bowel and hormonal status. Visit your Gynecologist for further evaluation and proper management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
General Surgeon
