Had Hysterectomy And C-section. Suture Became An Ingrown Stitch. Inflammation With Fluid Drainage. What To Do?

Is there a term for removable sutures that never come out and eventually become ingrown ? I had a c-section and then later a hysterectomy and both times I have ended up with what I have been told is an ingrown stitch . Just wondering because it often becomes inflamed and has drainage - very uncomfortable and just gross! YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

There may be ingrown sutures which are not removed accidentally. These should be removed as soon as there is doubt of them having inside. Otherwise wound will not heal and there will be continuous discharge even pus formation.

You are advised to get it removed and do a course of antibiotic tabs and ointments.

Regards
Dr. Gaurav
