Had Herpes. What Are Treatment Options?

Hey there, i had herpes last wednesday, first time i ever got it.. i didnt really know how i can speed up the herpes healing process so i did a lil research online and found out you can put garlic on it, so i did, and it worked so well i put the garlic on the herpes for hours... 2 days later it seems like i got a garlic burn on the herpes (havent completley healed yet)... my questions are what can i do for it to heal faster and hopfully prevent scars (its on my face..) and also how long do you think it will take for it to heal? thanks alot ! , Lital.

Hi

Thanks for asking.

Herpes is a viral infection and it comes in two forms:

Herpes simplex
Herpes zoster

I think you are talking about the herpes simplex.

Not many drugs are available for the quick healing of the herpes simplex lesions, acyclovir ointment can be used, although its role in quick healing is questionable .

Systemic acyclovir is not recommend in immunocomptent patients for the minor infections.

There are no quick fixes, the viral infection will take its time.

Thanks
