Had Heart Attack, ER Level 50. How Close To Death?

My mother had a massive heart attack Saturday. The cardio doctor this morning said that when heart attacks come into ER the level is at a 7. My mothers were level 50. He also said that her heart is barely working. My Mom is 85 and has many health problems. We would like to know how close is she to dying. Thank you

Cardiologist 's  Response
Dear patient,

Thanks for your health concerns. Indeed, given her age and a massive heart attack that really affected the contractile function, her short term prognosis is not encouraging, and heart failure or malignant arrhythmias may happen in the next weeks or months; impossible, though to make an exact estimate, but yes, she is very sick.

Yours truly,

Dr Brenes-Salazar MD
