Had Dent In Leg And Knee. Causing Pain. What Is This?

Hi - my daughter is 12 yrs old and has had a dent in her left leg mid way between her thigh and her knee for over 6 months - it does cause her discomfort once in a while- she is physically active and not overweight - now she has found a dent on the left side of her head close to the top - the indentation is about 2 inches long and dips in about a quarter of an inch- it is causing her some mild pain - she hasnt banged into anything that she can think of. She takes regular vitamns and is basically healthy so we are concerned. What do you think?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The presence of dent is likely to be related to shin splints. This is a soft tissue injury at the muscle insertion due to excessive stress and strain. Rest, hot fomentation of the area and mild pain killers will be of help.
