Had Chronic Atrial Fibrillation. Been Diagnosed For Heart Failure, Heart Muscle Is Damaged And Can't Be Reversed
Sir. I have had chronic Atrial Fibrillation for over five year. ,A month ago my doctor diagnosed 'heart failure' I have felt it the end of the world! Can you tell me sir just how one can live with it and keep 'the 'never give up' feeling? I am 81! and take the necessary medications. It is said the heart muscle is damaged and can not be reversed? I have a little boy just ten who has Asperger's and a are under much stress trying to home school him. I JUST WONDERED HOW LONG? kIND REGARDS Jaffray Geddes

Its not end of the world however this is true that once heart muscles are damaged they can't be repaired by any established kind of therapy but lot of research is going on with stem cell therapy particularly mesenchymal stem cells which has shown promising results in heart failure patients in terms of increasing life span and quality of life. But these are in research phase in human clinical trials and are not considered a standard form of therapy. You should not loose hope and try to get more information about this. If you want then I can provide you more information on this since this stem cell experimental therapy is going on at my center Are you using external/internal defibrillator and what is the ejection fraction at present ?
