Had Abdominal Hysterectomy. Now Having Redness, Moistness On The Wound. Itching, Gaining Weight. Suggestions?
Hi I had an abdominal hysterectomy just over a year ago and I have returned to full health. However, today I noticed a lot of redness, moistness spreading almost half of wound. I have been very itchy and thought I was putting on too much weight. Should I visit my doctor or start cream like germalene or anti fungal cream? Tks. Cora
You should not use any cream by your own. You definitely should consult with your doctor. Such redness can be caused by an irritation caused by stitches left there, skin inflammation or even a hernia in the wound. Irritation by stitches can give a discharge in the scar area. Skin inflammation is possible if this area were in moisture environment for some time. In such case, keeping it dry and clean should improve the situation. Hernia should give a lump in this area which should get bigger when standing, coughing or lifting heavy objects.
I suggest you to visit your doctor for proper diagnose and treatment.
Hope this will help. Regards.
