Had A Robotic Myomectomy For Tumor, Had An Incision That Lost Blood, Needed Transfusion, Infection, Redness And Swelling. Is It A Muscle Knot?

Hello, I had a robotic myomectomy for a 10 pound tumor. During the surgery they switched to a bikini incision. I lost a lot of blood and needed two transfusions. The surgery was march 25th 2013, it has been around 5 weeks since. I removed my own staples. the incision never appeared infected red swollen painful.

I had inter course at night at the 4.5 week mark. And what I thought was my period began the following morning. My period has been heavy all week and painful but has finally died down to a dark brown light amount 7 days later. Today 7 days after the start of the supposed period is April 30th. Three days before today I noticed a cramping in my left calf. It felt like a muscle knot. It was and still is quite painful.

Thinking it was a muscle knot I massaged the area and got some but little relief.

Shortly after I noticed a pulsating in the foot on the same side.

I am concerned that I may have a blood clot. Am I at risk so far after my surgery?

Could the intercourse have triggered bleeding inside that could make a blood clot more likely ?

Is it likely that a period after a myomectomy could put me at a higher risk?

Could a pulsating in my foot signal that I have dislodged a clot ?

Thank you for your help

Hi,
Welcome to healthcaremagic,
From the description ,i am not seeing much to worry about .
you had some bleeding during operation and that was taken care of .
post operative period was fine with primary union of wound .
As you have said this was your first period after surgery . for prolonged and excess bleeding you may need some medicines to control the amount of bleeding if it happens in next period .
it may be that you are not having balanced diet in post operative period and not taking enough fluid . that may result in muscle cramps pulsation of artery over dorsum of foot may be noticed as the artery here is very superficial and not covered by sub cutaneous fat .
since it is more than 2months now since operation ,it will be better to get a check up with your doctor and discuss the problems for any treatment if required .
hope every thing will be all right
