Had A Mastectomy, Now Having Painful Lumps. Advised Multiple Masses Called Oval Hypoechoic. Problem?
I have had a mastectomy two years ago and now I am having painful lumps in the size range of 1 to 1.4 cms. I have a pet scheduled tomorrow. My doctor is telling me there are multiple masses called oval hypoechoic and they are solid. Should I be really concerned or not so much so until I find out the diagnosis?

You have not mentioned the cause of mastectomy done in the past.
Now to find out the cause go for Mammography.
Consult surgeon and get examined.
After proper diagnosis plan of treatment can be decided.

Its great that you have the will power to fight your illness and are consulting your doctor regularly.
Mastectomy removes all the mammary tissues and in some patients prosthetic implants are inserted. As you have not mentioned any implants, I consider you have not gone for it.
The solid hypoechoic masses is a ultrasound scan finding and can related to lymphnodal swelling or post surgery small collections (less likely).
Even considering lymphnodal swellings, there are two types, reactive lymphadenopathy and metastatic lymphadenopathy. This is the reason you doctor has asked for a PET scan. In PET scan the uptake of isotope in these small masses will tell their characteristic feature. You doctor wants to be certain about it before proceeding with further treatment.
